Anishinabe Lifelong Learning Adult Education Program
Start Date: October 13, 2008 End Date: March 31, 2009 Hours: 35 hours week, must be able to work some evenings
Requirements:
· Post secondary education preferably in adult education or literacy service provider
· Adult Literacy delivery experience preferably in native stream
· Proven Ability in literacy level assessment
· Experience in training plan development
· Knowledge of literacy matrix
· Training/knowledge in workforce literacy delivery
· Knowledge of GED requirements
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Excellent computer skills
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
· Excellent problem-solving, time management skills
· Excellent organization, administration skills
· Certification in First Aide, CPR would be an asset
· Must be able to provide a clean CPIC.
· Possess a valid driver’s license.
· Knowledge, Understanding or ability to converse in the Aboriginal Language would be an asset
· Knowledgeable of Aboriginal cultures, traditions, teachings, protocols and values would be an asset
· Knowledge of the Native Women’s Association and movement would be considered an asset
Summary of Duties
Deliver all literacy components Provide one-to-one tutoring and support for OSSD students and literacy students as required Administer literacy assessments to all students upon program entry, and every 3 months thereafter, identifying literacy levels, exit assessments Produce/develop training plans with each student inclusive of goals, timeframes, benchmarks, measurable outcomes Provide workforce essential skills delivery Implement marketing strategy Promotion, and awareness of project with community, agencies, organizations in Simcoe County Maintain good working relationship with existing partnerships, establish new partnerships, networking, support with other agencies, organizations, etc Plan, organize, schedule and implement education services Answer general enquiries with respect to project and making referrals Maintain files directly related to Project Establish individual student files Record attendance and maintain files of students in project and send to appropriate LDMS employment supports, etc. Liaise with teacher, students and partners and direct enquiries to appropriate personnel
Establish and coordinate a collaborative working committee for evaluation and monitoring – to advise and direct the implementation and evaluation of the project
Create assessment tools (surveys, etc.) and develop Needs Assessment statistics for future development phases
Implement and conduct focus groups, where appropriate, to determine areas of possible collaboration/partnership
Gather examples of “best practices” that can be shared through a collaborative process
Consultation with the various college institutes and Aboriginal Institutes to identify program opportunities based on results of needs assessment and determine areas of possible collaboration/partnership
Make recommendations for community inclusion and consultation in areas related to additional education for aboriginal people, including collaborative research and community partnerships;
Prepare final report for GBNWA on the outcomes of the project and recommendations for further action.
