Cultural Workshop Facilitator

 

The Saskatchewan Aboriginal Literacy Network Inc. is seeking a Cultural Workshop Facilitator for a contract position.  This contract will be begin as a part-time position but may build into a fulltime position. 

The successful applicant will review existing documents, research & develop new sections, and deliver workshops called Understanding Aboriginal Culture to literacy and other related organizations on a fee-for-service basis. 

Expectations: Working with the Executive Director, the Cultural Workshop Facilitator will:

    Research existing workshop manual.

    Research and develop changes to the manual.

    Promote the workshop and process any requests.

    Promote, organize, and facilitate the Understanding Aboriginal Culture Workshops.

    To be knowledgeable of the Policy & Procedures Manual, especially those parts pertaining to contractual staff.

    Prepare reports and documents as requested by the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

  Qualifications:
    Understanding of all the First Nations and Métis cultures of Saskatchewan. 

    Background in some Aboriginal languages an asset.

    Education and or background in literacy, adult education, and community development principles and theory are an asset.

    Familiarity with Aboriginal literacy as well as other literacy sectors such as family literacy, workplace, and community literacy.

    Experience with workshop and/or program planning and facilitation.

    Experience with evaluation processes, plain language tools, and group facilitation work.

    Able to travel and stay in communities for short periods of time.

    Strong oral and written communication skills.

    Able to use the Microsoft Office, computer, E-mail, and Internet.

 

Salary:

    Contract will be based on a commission rate.
