Millenium Scholarships

The Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation sponsors a series of Millennium Scholarship awards for students who will be entering a post-secondary institution in 2009-10. Their purpose is to improve access to post-secondary studies for Canadian students and each year they distribute approximately $340 million in the form of bursaries and scholarships. In total the more than 900,000 awards they have distributed total close to $2.6 billion.

This award encourages Canadians to make positie and significant contributions to the betterment of their communities. Potential candidates should demonstrate a capacity for creative leadership and be able to commit themselves tothe pursuit of social innovation and academic excellence.

This is the last cycle of millennium entrance awards so the foundation is trying to reach and inform as many potential applicants as possible.

Interested individuals can learn more about the program, or download an application form, at www.excellenceaward.ca. Over 1,000 entrance awards are distributed proportionally every year across Canada.. Local awards are $4,000, provincial are $16,000 and national awards are $20,000.

Applications must be post-marked on or before December 12, 2008 to be considered.
