Changing Seasons - Changing Focus

Posted: December 2, 2008

The annual provincial training event for the Native literacy stream in Ontario took place November 20 - 23, 2008 at Elmhirst Resort near Peterborough.

This training conference was open to Native and non-Native literacy practitioners and also to those who are interested in learning more about Native literacy in Ontario.  A total of almost 80 people attended the conference with almost half coming from outside of the Native LBS stream.

This training was largely based on the Practitioner Training Action Plan (PTAP), which was developed in 2007 as part of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) project titled "Culturally Specific Native Literacy Programming: An Investigation", and offered participants three concurrent streams of session choices.

Those who attended the conference spoke about the knowledge gained and the uplifting and supportive atmosphere they felt.

Anyone interested in attending the next ONLC conference should check this website regularly for details.

Some pictures taken at the conference are shared here and more will be added in the next week or so.
