Kanienkaha'ka - An Intermediate Mohawk Language Course

This curriculum is dedicated to all the Kawenní:io/Gawení:yo First Language Speakers who have passed on.

This is an intermediate level Kaniakeha language curriculum and is meant to accompany ONLC’s Kanienkeha’:ka- A Beginner’s Mohawk Language Course.

This curriculum includes 10 lessons:

  • Kanonhweratónhtshera (Thanksgiving Speech),

  • Sounds & rules for stresses and accents,

  • Pronunciation practice

  • Red Prefixes using the Root Word Method,

  • Blue Prefixes using the Root Word Method

  • Purple Prefixes

  • Future emotional and mental states,

  • Describing a person

  • Environmental Nouns

  • Noun incorporation

  • Task-based Activities
